The MG3 – Fun, Fun, Fun
AVAILABLE to order now, the MG3 is the new supermini from MG Motor UK!
Just hours after opening a new multi-million pound design suite, MG Motor UK launched the European spec MG3 to a studio of eagerly anticipating journalists.
After a presentation led by SAIC’s Global Design Director Anthony Williams Kenny the British designed, five door supermini was thrust into the spotlight. Designed to be fun to buy, fun to own and fun to drive, the MG3 is aimed at both the young and young at heart.
At the heart of the MG3 you’ll find a car as British as a cup of tea at Glastonbury. British Design has always been a mix of the original and contemporary; as such Kenny described Britain as a “leading light for international design”, later adding that our little island is a “melting pot of ideas”.
The new design suite at Longbridge is further proof of SAIC’s commitment to bringing MG back to the success of years gone by. In effect the new suite has doubled the size of Design facilities, and houses a new five-axis milling machine capable of creating a full size clay model in just 36 hours.
One of the ultimate selling points for the compact new car is the variety of options to personalise your car, including 10 colour choices and graphic packs. Coupled with the cars’ already sporty stance, buyers will be able to create their own unique looking vehicle. The MG3 really will give owners a chance to show off their personality.
The Mod logo is the perfect example of a traditional British icon re-invented and subsequently adopted as part of popular culture. MG Motor have added their own twist, shaping the familiar rings into the much loved MG octagons. Look a little closer and you’ll soon spot the famous octagonal Marque on the MG3′s headlights, a nod to the styling of the MG3′s predecessors.
By releasing the MG3, MG Motor have entered one of the most competitive automotive markets in Europe, where a distinctive style won’t be enough to sell the large volumes of units they are aiming for with their new release.
That’s why the MG3 comes equipped with DAB radio, a very clever smart phone integration system and hill climb assist. Much like its older brother the MG6, the MG3 will be offered in three different trim packages.
Pricing on the MG3 is yet to be confirmed, but is reported to start at under £10,000. The car will be available for test drive from July onwards and should be rolling out the dealerships in September. Owners of the MG3 will be invited to join the MG Car Club, as part of the MG6 register, who will be incorporating the MG3.
Martin Willaimson, Chairman of the MG6 register attended the launch and said: “The members of the MG6 Register look forwarding to welcoming the new owners of the MG3 into our group. The MG3 is being launched with fun at the forefront of its marketing, and we look forward to enjoying the fun spirit that the new members will bring to our events.
“In all seriousness, the addition of the MG3 into the MG6 Register will help raise the number of members giving us more scope to offer an even more exciting list of activities throughout the year.”
