The 2013 European Event of the Year is finally here!
TODAY marks the start of what is likely to be one of the greatest gatherings of classic MG cars ever seen – the European Event of the Year, held in Scotland!
The MG Car Club European Event of the Year is taking place in Aviemore, at the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, and will coincide with the 21st anniversary celebrations of the MG Car Club’s Caledonian Centre. It is anticipated that over 370 MG cars from 24 countris have made the trip to Scotland.
Each year the MGCC stages its European Event of the Year when enthusiasts and their cars from all over the world congregate at a single location for five days of automotive fun and celebration of the marquee.
The inaugural event was held in Luxembourg in 1997 and it has taken place every year since. This will be the first time that the event has come to the UK. The MG Car Club’s Caledonian Centre was awarded the right to host this year’s event in a competitive pitch in 2010 and have been busy planning this event ever since!
From today (August 16) until Tuesday August 20 Aviemore, will be the base for a scenic touring rally and associated events that will showcase the very best that Highland Scotland has to offer. Participants will be treated to a Civic Reception hosted by Highland Council in Aviemore and they will then have the opportunity to sample the fantastic roads and scenery of the Cairngorms area – the UK’s largest and newest National Park. With a full programme that includes visits to the Highland Games, distilleries and Loch Ness, attendees are sure to have a great time!
Keep an eye out on the website and in Safety Fast! for all the reports from this fantastic event!
