South America Adventure Tour

This page is an invitation to register your interest in joining this tour holiday scheduled to run in January/February 2016. The proposed route is detailed below and is approximately 6,500 miles from start to finish. It is expected to last for four weeks plus a further week allowed for travelling to Buenos Aires, meeting the cars from the shipping line and completing the necessary paperwork.

The tour will start and finish in Buenos Aires, Argentina. We will head south through Bahia Blanca, Caleta Olivia, and Rio Gallegos before crossing by ferry to Tierra del Fuego island and Ushuaia, the nearest town to Antarctica. Our return will use route 40 through El Calafate, Perito Moreno to Zapala where we cross the international border into Chile. We then stay in Victoria before making our way to the capital, Santiago for a two day stay. Then we return to Buenos Aires crossing the Andes at around 12,000 feet, then stopping off for a glass of wine in Mendoza.

This proposed tour holiday will include accommodation in 3/4 star hotels where available, half board, container transportation but not cost of flights as I am hoping that members from other countries will join us. The expected duration is five weeks and the tour will take place in January/February of 2016 (summertime in Argentina, missing winter in the UK, and another reason to join us).

You will be able to cruise the Beagle Channel and hopefully watch the sea lions and possibly even a penguin or two. We pass close to Fangio’s Museum and we have already been asked to include a short visit.

If this adventure, in the rather doubtful company of Bridget the Midget, appeals to you then please register your interest with Roy Locock by e-mail to roy@mgcc.co.uk.  If we have the necessary numbers by the end of March 2015 then we will do all the administration and advise you of the costs to enable you to make a final decision. It is expected to be in the region of £4,500 per person. Where possible we will take care of necessary insurance packages and shipping administration. Please direct any questions regarding this tour to Roy at the above.
