SAIC MG Super Car design challenge 2016

SAIC Automotive have announced a competition called ‘Insight X’ in which people will be given the chance to choose between three set design tasks and create a car of the future.

The second set design in the competition is entitled ‘MG “Emotion Glamour” Super Car’ and the description is as follows: Despite being a celebrated British Sports car brand with a 90-year history, MG ‘king of top speed’, is taking a very important position in the world. Imagine a Unique and Exciting Vision for MG’s 2025 “Emotion Glamour” Super Racing Car. You are encouraged to explore a completely new direction or one achieved by modifying an existing MG car. Millions of MG fans around the world are waiting to race an MG in the game! The thrilling design could be yours! 

Competition entries started on the 1st April 2016, with the deadline for submission in early June, and it is open for college and university students across the world who are studying design related courses and degrees.

The other two designs are for Rowe, and involve creating the new flagship model and an Internet MPV. The winners that will be announced in June will then be put forward to the next stage of the competition that will involved making a 1:4 scale model of their creation, before the final assessment at the end of October.

A first-class scholarship is on offer to first place, as well as an opportunity to work at a European design centre. Alongside that, there will be a final award ceremony in the summer of 2017 held in Shanghai.

The judges of the competition will be making their decision based on the relevance of the models, the innovation, aesthetic features, and how complete they are as a vehicle.
