MGCC attracts the crowds at a record-breaking Race Retro

The MG Car Club went the extra mile to showcase its motorsport credentials at a record-breaking Race Retro last weekend, hosting an attractive display at the annual Stoneleigh Park spectacular.

The event attracted a total of 23,100 attendees over its three days – a 10 per cent increase on 2017. Amongst the attractions were a mix of rarely-seen racing and rally cars, the thrilling Live Action rally stage, some fantastic vehicles in the Silverstone Auctions sales and a host of top motorsport personalities.

The Club’s stand was in a prime position at the entrance to Hall 2, and featured the MG Midget of Andy McGee alongside the 1935 MG PB of Triple M Racing Coordinator Mark Dolton. Amazingly, Mark had returned from Hamburg to put car on stand as a last-minute replacement after the planned display car had to be withdrawn due to unforeseen circumstances. The series coordinators were also on-hand to discuss MGCC racing with interested parties.

Other MGs on show included two racing MGBs and an MGA on Oselli’s stand, John Lawson’s rally-prepared MGB in the Pride of the Paddock display and a Modsport MGA with Vauxhall XE power, as well as Warren Philliskirk in his Metro 6R4 on the Live Action rally stage

Lee Masters, Show Director of Race Retro said: “After the response to last year’s event under the new ownership of Clarion Events, we wanted visitors and exhibitors to see yet another step change for Race Retro, showing our commitment to the industry and firmly securing our position as Europe’s number one historic motorsport season opener.”

The next Race Retro will be held from 22nd to 24th February 2019. For the latest updates as well as all the highlights from 2018’s event, visit www.raceretro.com
