Marshal of the Year – Marion Quarrington
The award was made at the Annual General Meeting of the South Midlands Region of the British Motor Racing Marshals Club held at the Saracens Head in Towcester on Saturday 25th October.
Marion Quarrington, an experienced Marshal for the MG Car Club, received the “Marshal of the Year” award for her hard work as a marshal at motor racing events.
Marion attends almost all of the MGCC’s race meetings every year, where she covers the pit lane – an area needing a great deal of care to ensure competitors do not speed in the pit lane and also to manage the complex “two lane” system, not to mention monitoring the pit crews crossing from the garages over the pit wall to signal to their driver. Occasionally Marion is seen with her speed gun checking speeds in the pit lane!
Marion volunteered some years ago to join the marshal team at an MG Car Club event at Silverstone and she thoroughly enjoyed the teamwork and could see the skills and knowledge of the marshals were impressive, not to mention the good cheer and friendly nature of the marshals who contribute a great deal to making Club racing a success for both competitors and spectators.
Marion continues to be an important part of the MGCC’s Marshal family and we look forward to seeing her again next year!
