History of Car and any work or modifications carried out: 2 year full nut and bolt restoration carried out between September 2013 and July 2015. Molly had been in storage since 2003 when it was taken out of daily use by the previous owner. Found a lot of corrosion in all the usual places on original bodyshell. Rather than try to patch up, managed to obtain a NOS bodyshell which had been dry stored since 1979. Paint colour now is JLR “Baltic Blue” which seems to go quite well with the black bumpers. During restoration, many parts such as bumper armatures, hood and seat frames, heater box, radiator cowl and suspension parts were powder coated along with other bright steel parts being zinc plated. Other mods include lowered suspension, Spax dampers, Revotec fan, Magnetronic ignition, unleaded conversion and mohair hood. When first acquired, car had performance exhaust and K&N filter fitted which [to me] seemed to simply turn petrol into noise. Now returned to stock system which makes the engine sound much smoother and more bearable on a long run. Planning to install 5-speed gearbox when funds allow.
Nickname of Car: Molly.
