MGCC Euopean Event of the Year 2020 – Updated Information!

The MG Car Club European Event of the Year 2020 will be taking place in Germany. 50 years after its founding, MG Car Club Deutschland e.V. will organise the event which will take place from the 5th to the 9th of August in Würzburg.

Bookings for the event open at 8pm CEST (7pm UK time). The event is expected to sell out quickly so if you’re thinking of attending, please make sure you book as soon as possible!

Dear MG friends,

on Tuesday the time has come to register for the European Event 2020. The whole team, which is involved in organising this event for some years now, is looking forward to your response.

Registration Fee

The registration fee is 489 € for the driver and car and 360 € for every other person. Children under 14 years are free.

Included in this registration fee are:

• Two-course-dinner incl. drinks on Wednesday evening
• Lunch and one drink on the tours on Thursday and Saturday
• Winetasting and snack at the „Staatlicher Hofkeller“
• Meal and drinks at the Bürgerspital, a typical Franconian wine tavern
• Four-course-menu incl. drinks at the galadinner
• Shipcruise on the river Main
• All entry fees
• Guarded Parking on all days
• Shuttle from Parking to hotel on arrival
• Live music of the 50s and 60s
• Roadbook and rally plate

  So it’s actually only the accomodation costs added.

After you registered for the event, you will first receive a confirmation of receipt.Three days later you will get another email with payment details. Once payment has been made, you will receive the links to the booking pages of the hotels and information about campsites or camper van parking. Special rates can only be booked via these links!
Please don’t book ferries or flights until you have a payment confirmation from us! If there  are more than 251 registration, we will have a waiting list.

Dear MG friends,

just two weeks until the registration opens. So it’s time to give you some more information. The programme is fixed now and looks like follows:

Wednesday, 05.08.2020
Arrival, registration,  check-in at Hotel from 12 noon to 6 pm.
In the evening two-course-dinner at the event hotel.

Thursday, 06.08.2020
Scenic drive in four groups along medieval towns and beautiful landscape. Two groups drive (in opposite directions) to Rothenburg ob der Tauber. After lunch you will have enough time to explore this wonderful town.
The other tour will lead the other two groups (in opposite directions as well) along the river Main to Lohr am Main and Wertheim, where lunch is waiting for you. Also here you have enough time for sightseeing or just sit with your MG friends and a glass of Franconia wine.

In the evening two groups will have a winetasting and snack at the „Staatlicher Hofkeller“, while the other two groups enjoy a meal and drinks at the Bürgerspital, a typical Franconian wine tavern..

Friday, 07.08.2020
Today our MGs haved a rest on the guarded parkspace, while two groups enjoy a shipcruise on the river Main to visit Schloss Veitshöchheim (castle). Veitshöchheim is a very beautiful small town with a château (Schloss) and a Rococo garden. The town itself has a very well preserved, picturesque look. The edges of town have a semi-rural look.
At the same time two other groups will visit the Würzburger Residenz, which is one of the finest Palaces in Europe and famous for its grand staircase. It is regarded as one of the finest pieces of Baroque art in the world as such it has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Lunch at event hotel.
In the afternoon the groups will alternate.
In the evening two groups will have a winetasting and snack at the „Staatlicher Hofkeller“, while the other two groups enjoy a meal and drinks at the Bürgerspital, a typical Franconian wine tavern..

Saturday, 08.08.2020
Today the groups alternate for the scenic drives to Rothenburg, Lohr and Wertheim.
In the evening galadinner “50 years MG Car Club Deutschland” and a four-course-menu.

Sonntag, 09.08.2020
Between 10 am to 1 pm we have time to say goodbye. Some live music of the 50s and 60s will entertain you, before all MGs roar off.

All meals and drinks, entry fees, ship cruise etc. will be included in the entry fee.

We hope that the programme will please many of you and we are looking forward to spent some happy days with you in Franconia.

The region around Würzburg offers much more to see and is worth to spend some more days beforeor after the event. Here are some ideas:

• Würzburg “Alte Mainbrücke”
  Relax with a Franconia wine on Würzburg oldest Main bridge.
• Festung Marienberg
  Reachable with a short but steep walk.
• Iphofen (appr. 20 mls)
  With its picturesque, fully preserved medieval and Baroque Old Town ensemble, Iphofen is at the same time a tourist and historical attraction.
• Volkach (appr. 20 mls)
  The small, historic city on the Main is an important wine and tourist town in the Franconian wine-growing region.
• Prichsenstadt (appr. 25 mls)
  A well-preserved medieval cityscape (cobblestones, half-timbered / stone houses and city gates) awaits the visitor.
• Weltkulturerbestadt Bamberg (appr.: 60 mls)
• Schweinfurt (appr. 30 mls.)
  Beautiful old town
• Franconian Switzerland with a really beautiful landscape along the Pegnitz and other rivers

Accomodation

Hotels

We have booked several hotels. All of them are within a short walk to the event room. So it’s not neccessary to use your car after dinner. You cannot book these hotels now at the special rates!

Camping

There is a campsite for tents about 10 km from the event room.
Camping with your motorhome will be possible next to the our MG parking.
