National MGA Day 2024

Sunday 21st July 2024

MGA Day 2024 will be held at the Severn Valley Railway on Sunday 21 July at the Engine House, Highley, WV16 6NZ.

Access to The Engine House and the adjoining area will be from approx. 10.00am

Parking immediately adjoining The Engine House itself is limited to 20 MGAs and echelon parking will be required.

The majority of the parking will be 75-100 metres from The Engine House, accommodating 24 cars (with a further 12 cars accommodated if tandem parking is used near Highley Signal box.)

Further (pay) parking up the hill from the site for any latecomers.

Highley Station has a ticket office, and the railway will offer a 10% discount on fares on production of an MGCC Membership Card. (I’ll provide the railway with a scanned image of the current card)

Catering – The Engine House has a very big restaurant, offering both hot and cold food. You can eat inside or (if the weather is decent) outside on the terrace and watch the trains. If you would prefer a pub lunch, the Ship Inn, on the banks of the Severn, is just a few minutes walk downhill.

One of the exhibits in The Engine House is King George VI’s Royal Coach, built in 1941 and in which Eisenhower, Churchill and De Gaulle met prior to D-Day:

You can normally only look in its various compartments from the outside, but the SVR will provide an internal guided tour of the train (takes about 15 minutes) for groups of around six people. Please contact Howard Quayle no later than one week before the event if you’d to like to take the tour.
