Collaboration between The MG Car Club, The British Motor Museum & The Motorcycling Club to:
Return ‘Old Number One’ to the MCC Land’s End Trial in 2025 – the Centenary of the car’s first running in the hands of Cecil Kimber…

‘Old Number One’, perhaps more accurately referred to as ‘Kimber’s Special’, will be visiting Cornwall once again over the Easter trial weekend!
It is our pleasure to share that the event programme is now available for release, and we would urge you to consider your Easter plans this year to attend this significant moment in the MG story.
Be a part of commemorating 100 years since ‘Old Number One’ ran in the 1925 MCC Land’s End Trial… Cecil Kimber, founder of MG, won a gold medal aboard his Morris Garages ‘Special’, of which the iconic Blue Hills image testifies to his early achievement in helping to establish the sporting credentials of the emerging marque.
With much work from the three partner organisations – The British Motor Museum, to whom we are most grateful for providing one of their key exhibits; the MCC, for allowing us to dove-tail with their Trial event programme; and the MG Car Club Devon & Cornwall Centre and Vintage Register organising team, for their considerable efforts in drawing this all together.
