This will be the first time the TC will race in the Le Mans Classic, having competed in events such as Goodwood Revival, Silverstone Classic and MG Live! 2015.

Simon, who is delighted to be going to France in July, said: “Competing at both the Goodwood Revival and Le Mans Classic was always a dream, but one that has been a long time in the making, as it was not a question of purchasing a potentially eligible car. The journey of working with Phil Cornut and others to acquire a donor car, and then research the original to ensure we got the rebuild historically accurate and conforming to HTP standards was an exciting and educational part of the project.

“Acquiring a race license and learning how to get this particular car around a circuit was just as challenging for a complete novice. Along the way we have met some fascinating, helpful and knowledgeable people; including many in the MG Car Club who have been very supportive.

“Perhaps the most gratifying aspect of the whole effort has been the realisation that even in today’s environment with values of cars rocketing beyond the reach of most, it is still possible to indulge in recreating motorsport history, and gain a grid position alongside legendary cars on a limited budget.”

From all of us at the Car Club, we wish Simon the very best for the Le Mans Classic, and will look forward to the report and photos that will inevitably follow.
