Peter Couch Cancer Research Fund

I am pleased to advise you all as requested that Terry Starkey of the Burblers pub meet Wreningham Norfolk has collected a sum of £680 to date for the Peter Couch Cancer Research fund. This has been made up from profits from the RV8 badges, pub meet night collection, a donation from Clive Wheatley, a collection at Snetterton race meeting plus at last Saturday’s Burblers Christmas Dinner.
This money been forwarded to the fund because for those of you who are not aware, Peter Couch, a Burblers pub meet member lost his fight with The Big C earlier this year.
Best regards

Simon Tinkler Championship Story

Simon Tinkler won the MGCC BCV8 Championship for the second time in 3 years with one race in hand. After a great tussle with Bob Luff in the final round at Snetterton, Simon finished the season with a Class AB win and followed that with a Class win in the British Motor Heritage 4 Hour Relay race.

Simon prepared the car himself, with guidance and assistance from his father, Richard, who has been involved with MGs for 53 years.  Simon also prepared the engine himself for the first time this year. The only mechanical failure during the season was a broken throttle cable when leading the Class at Brands Hatch. Besides the racer, affectionately known as Primrose, Simon has a 1972 Midget, a 1964 MGB and a 1937 Austin 7 special. Father has a 1937 MG TA, a 1967 Midget and a 1971 Marcos 3 litre Volvo.

Simon hopes to repeat the performance in 2016 but will face stronger competition in the New Class A, the FIA cars being quicker in a straight line but slower round the bends. Simon is also hoping to share a drive in the Spa 6 Hours race in September 2016, in an FIA MGB.

East Coast Pub Meet
Venue: The Fox, London Road, Shadingfield, Beccles, Suffolk NR34 8DD
This is your monthly reminder that the MG Car Club ‘East Coast’ Pub Meet will take place at The Fox, Shadingfield, this coming Wednesday 21st October from 12 noon. We will be at the Fox to welcome you and look forward to seeing as many of you as possible.
As the 2015 MG season fast draws to a close, the dark nights are upon us and MGCC racing has now finished last weekend at Snetterton. What that means is Christmas is racing towards us; however that makes you feel you will have a job to miss it.
The East Coast pub meet will be having its Christmas lunch at The Fox Inn on Sunday 10th January; we made a decision to have it after Christmas to help spread the load of turkey related events. Please see 2015 East Coast Christmas dinner menu  for choices and please let me know if you wish to attend to the below e-mail address. Cost will be as last year at £14.95 for 2 courses, or £18.95 for 3 courses.

Peter Couch and Cancer Research

The sale of RV8 badges made a modest profit and John and I decided to donate £100 of that to the Cancer Research fund in memory of Peter Couch who, sadly, died recently and was cremated last week.

At last Friday’s Needham natter everyone raised their glasses and drank a toast to Peter, then John and I announced the £100 donation and asked for additional contributions from everyone in the pub. Our generous fellow members handed over a most impressive £110, bringing the total to £210. Not bad for one night! Then at Snetterton on Saturday a further £60 was donated bringing the total so far to £270. All in 3 days!

So everyone, will you please donate as much as you can to this very worthy cause in the name of a much loved and devoted MG enthusiast Peter Couch?

Unless I receive other suggestions I would like to keep this project going and announce the final tally on December 12th at the Burblers Xmas lunch. And who knows? We may even be able to keep it going after that. This will all be done in the name of the Anglia Centre of the MGCC. Donations can be paid to me (email me for details) or given to Natter leaders.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE BE GENEROUS AND HELP TO BEAT CANCER.

Thank you,
Regards,
Terry Starkey – terry@starkey.uk.com
