Abingdon Works Centre Bring Car Show Back To Life
HELD on the banks of the river Thames with clear blue skies and beaming sunshine, the Abingdon Works Car Show made its welcome return to the town.
With a fine array of MG’s on display, there was a fantastic showcase of vehicles built in the town’s MG factory between 1930 and 1980! Also proudly on show were other Marques once built in the town, including Austin, Riley and Wolsey.
Amongst the machinery on display were a number of very special ex works cars, while A R Motorsport, who compete in the MG Car Club’s Metro and Trophy Championships had a selection of more modern race cars. Keeping up the racing theme MG Motor UK provided the 2013 replica MG KX Momentum BTCC MG6.
Both The Throwing Buns and Secret Pizza Society kept visitors from going hungry with The Brewery Tap on hand to quench the thirst on the hot summer’s day.
Jointly organised by the Car Club’s Abingdon Works Centre and the Rotary Club of Abingdon, with support from Hartwell of Abingdon and Manor Garage of Wantage, the show, proceeds from the show went to Macmillan Cancer Support , The Thames Valley Air Ambulance and other charitable causes.
