What’s on this weekend 9th & 10th July
Below are a list of events going on this weekend, but if you find yourself out and about in your MG doing something else, use the hashtag #MGCCweekend on any photos or posts that you upload on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. We want to see what you’re up to!
MGCC: ZED15 Incorporating Saloon Day, British Motor Museum, Gaydon – Saturday 9th July
Saloon Day is a key event on the MG Car Club calendar, and this year it will be made extra special with the Zed’s 15th Birthday celebrations. The MG Zed range launched in 2001, and breathed fresh life into the MG marque. The ZR would go on to become one of Britain’s most popular hot hatches, whilst the ZS received critical acclaim for its fantastic handling and drivability, and the ZT proved to be the ultimate Q-car thanks to the torquey V6 and brutish V8 models.
Alongside the Zeds will be tin-top MGs of all descriptions – from the classic Y-type of the 1950s, the 1100s/1300s from the 1960s, through to the ultimate ‘80s MGs; the Metro, Maestro and Montego. Completing the picture will be the current range of MGs in the form of the MG6 and MG3.
The British Motor Museum offers a convenient location, and will provide an ideal opportunity for many to visit the museum, which is currently undergoing refurbishment. Admission price to the event is £10 on the day, and the event starts at 10.00am. A wristband to gain entry to view the collection inside the revamped British Motor museum can be purchased for an additional £10 per person in advance, a saving of £4 off the normal entry. MGCC: Lincolnshire Centre, MG & Rover Day, East Kirkby – Saturday 9th July
Come and join the Lincolnshire Centre at the annual MG & Rover Day at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre in East Kirkby, and see a wide range of cars from down the years. There will also be Lancaster taxy runs at 11am, 1.00pm and a Spitfire flypast at 2.15pm. For more information, contact Kevin on 01529 460169.
MGCC: Caledonian Centre, Glamis Show – Saturday 9th – Sunday 10th July
One again the Centre will be attending the SVVC Glamis Extravaganza at Glamis Castle. This is the largest show of its type in Scotland and well worth a visit with something for all the family and all ages, young and old! It is Scotland’s largest gathering of old timers that hit a new weekend high in 2015. We want a large turnout of ALL MGs but will have special displays to mark 15 years of ZED cars and also MG Heritage. So no matter the year of your MG, the age of the driver or indeed the condition of the car or driver… WE WANT YOU! It would be especially good to have a representation of Triple-Ms and T Types!
There is an entry charge of £4 per car plus a donation of £5 per person towards our excellent onsite weekend catering. Both are payable on the day when signing on.If you require a camping pass that is an extra £5. For more information please contact Bob MacGillivray on 07870 407111

MGCC: South West Centre, Summer Picnic to Barrington Court – Sunday 10th July
This year’s picnic is at Barrington Court, a National Trust house formally owned by Colonel Lyle of Tate and Lyle. We have secured MG parking in front of the main entrance to the house. There are large gardens with plenty of space for our picnic and we can make use of the nearby restaurant and café with toilets. Entrance to the main house is free to National Trust members. For more information, please contact Alan Diamond on 01934 415764. If you do plan on coming along, follow the National Trust signs via the village into the main entrance. Then follow the MG signs past the main car park (on the left) around the front of the house. Click HERE to download a copy of this information.
