Safety Fast for Headway Oxfordshire at MGLive!
The MG Car Club is delighted to announce that Headway Oxfordshire has been named as the official charity partner for MGLive! 2016 on the 4th and 5th June.
Headway Oxfordshire is a local charity based close to Abingdon who offer support to people in the county that suffer from brain injuries. At MGLive!, the Club will be raising money for Headway Oxfordshire through programme sales and fundraising.
Since 1982, Headway Oxfordshire has helped hundreds of patients through various avenues of care, ranging from physical and mental therapy to vocational support and training.
The link between the MG Car Club and Headway Oxfordshire stretches much further than the short distance they are from one another. Motorsport has been in the Club’s history since its existence, and with that comes head safety – something both parties feel strongly about.
John Day, the MG Car Club President said: “Headway Oxfordshire is the perfect fit for the MG Car Club and MGLive! 2016. The link between them is very strong, and I believe it’s a charity that people will wholeheartedly understand and support.”
At MGLive!, Headway Oxfordshire will be showing their link between themselves and the Club through the Club’s magazine ‘Safety Fast’ – a slogan that connects strongly with their ethos.
Jamie Miller, the Chief Executive at Headway Oxfordshire said: “We are thrilled to have been chosen as the Charity partner for MGLive! 2016. Every year in Oxfordshire a staggering 4,000 people suffer a serious head injury.
“Brain injury can strike people of any age, and from any walk of life and at any time, we know how devastating brain injuries can be for the lives of the individuals and their loved ones.
“We also know that life is precious, but to make our lives full we need to live them. This means we need to understand risk, mitigate it where possible but we should also embrace it, for when we take risks we push our experience and understanding, developing into better human beings as a consequences.
“This commitment and love of life is one we share with MG. Over MG’s 90 year history this belief has been summed up in its famous slogan ‘Safety Fast’. Whilst maintaining its reputation as the premier British manufacturer of iconic sports cars, it has also often been an innovator in car safety.”
Organised by the MG Car Club, MGLive! sees thousands of die-hard MG enthusiasts from across the globe descend on the home of British motorsport for a weekend-long celebration of all things MG.
