Another Macmillan Donation From MGCC
This morning the MG Car Club alongside the MG Trophy Championship donated two cheques to Macmillan Cancer Support.
The MG Trophy raised a total of £700 for the charity, donated from just the drivers. Tyre sponsors Dunlop give the Championship eight free tyres a year that are then used in a £10 raffle for the drivers. The rest of the money was raised from miscellaneous donations and extras from their annual general meeting.
Pete Macwaters, MG Trophy Championship Co-ordinator said: “This is our second year with Macmillan and they’re all-encompassing when cancer support is concerned, they cover diagnosis and see it right through. Every year we take a vote on a charity, and the drivers have been very keen to support Macmillan in what they do.”
The Car Club also donated an additional £8018.31 to the charity – the remainder of what has previously been raised, which happened to be the Oxfordshire Macmillan branch’s largest donation of the year so far.
Julian White, MGCC General Manager said: “The club has enjoyed its relationship with Macmillan over the past couple of years, and we were delighted to present them with a further cheque, helping them continue the fantastic support they provide so many people with.”
Macmillan are a source of support, helping with all the things that people affected by cancer want and need. They fund nurses and other specialist health care professionals and build cancer care centres, but also give so much more than medical help.
