Zircotec and MG Car Club strengthen Abingdon connection
The MG Car Club has teamed up with Abingdon-based firm Zircotec to offer its members an impressive 15% discount on Zircotec coatings and Zircoflex flexible heat shields.
Zircotec are a long-time supporter of the MGCC, with the firm being based on the site of the old MG factory, close to the Car Club’s HQ. Over the years the company have worked closely with the club, supporting a number of initiatives, including the MG garden in Abingdon. Further cementing their links with MG with their heat coatings being applied to Andrew Jordan’s MG6 Touring Car.
Zircotec’s products have a range of classic car applications – the company’s plasma-sprayed finishes protect against heat, with applications such as turbos and exhausts. Zircoflex offers a flexible heatshield, ideal for protecting carburettors from fuel vaporisation, heat damage to paintwork and excess heat entering the cockpit. Its coatings for exhausts and turbos offer a permanent fix, unlike more traditional wraps, without detracting from the appearance of the engine bay.
“Abingdon was home to MG for so long and in a lot of ways remains the spiritual home of the marque,” says Managing Director Terry Graham. “We’re tremendously proud of our heritage and being here in Abingdon. We love the fact that our products are being supplied and fitted to cars that were built here.”
The firm’s heatshields have been proven as an excellent replacement for the original asbestos heatshield fitted to the MGB, providing vastly improved heat protection without the natural concerns associated with asbestos products.
Julian White, the Car Club’s General Manager said “The Car Club has always worked hard to offer our members a compelling set of benefits and this partnership with Zircotec is typical of that. We’re thrilled to be working with them, especially with them being a local business.”
With success proven on the MGB, Zircotec can now offer a range of products to suit the MG enthusiast. “Our sales team has a lot of experience dealing with classic MGs and we’re always willing to talk to owners about their needs and how our products can improve their car” adds Graham. “And if you are in Abingdon, we welcome visitors to come and see what options are available.”
