Electric ZS unveiled in China
MG’s first fully-electric production vehicle, an electric version of the ZS SUV, dubbed the eZS, has been unveiled in China.
Externally identical to the conventionally powered ZS, the plug-in gets subtle ‘eZS’ badging applied to the rear and a unique alloy wheel design. The charging ports are hidden behind in a panel behind the grille’s MG octagon.
The petrol engine has made way for a 150bhp, 110 kW motor, with MG claiming an average range of 208 miles.
Inside, the eZS is largely identical to the petrol-powered version, though the plug-in features extra USB charging ports, an armrest and storage cubby and an electronic hand-brake. The instrument cluster gains an additional information screen, as opposed to the simpler display on current models.
MG is calling the eZS its first ‘global electric SUV’ and is due to go on sale in China in early 2019, with the MG Motor UK expected to bring the car to the UK market at some point during the year.
