History of Car and any work or modifications carried out: My second ever car, bought in June 1984. Used daily for a while but then I got another Mini (Like my first car but newer), so that the Midget could have an easier life. The first photo was taken by the car’s second owner but is as the car was when I first owned it. Like that owner, the one who sold it to me, sold it to fund his wedding (He took my old Mini in part ex, as he needed a cheap car) but the second owner of the car bought another black Midget years later & recognised his old car at an event. During the late 1980s, I stripped, rebuilt & modified the car to my own requirements, an overdrive gearbox being part of that. As I planned to do some hillclimbs, I gave it more urge but also improved the cooling, road holding & general finish of the car. I also have my late father’s GAN 5 (See November 2023 cotm), his BGT V8 & a 1275 cc Morris Minor Traveller (My mother has a 78 BGT). My father asked me which was my favourite but I didn’t know. I later came to realise it is what I am driving when asked.
PS You may recognise a 1980s “Modern Midget Register” in the right lower corner of the screen. The one dated 31 5 21 is actually a reproduced version, as the original (Which I still have as a sample) had lost it’s stickiness after 35 years!!
